Japanese Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning is a method of permanently straightening and defrizzing hair types that include: overly curly, wavy, frizzy, kinky, colored, highlighted and bleached hair. The process simultaneously straightens and repairs hair by realigning the cystine bonds, and improves the hair structure by sealing in the highest quality proteins/emollients through the heat and compression of a flat ironing process.
The leading producers of Japanese Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning systems include Liscio and Yuko systems. I have been educated in both systems, as of October 2013 I have successfully completed over 2000 hair straightening procedures and 650 Brazilian Blowout procedures in the greater Portland, Oregon, area. The quality and results of both systems never cease to amaze me. Japanese Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning literally transforms the lives of clients.
The Liscio system, which I use the most, was introduced, manufactured and received approval by the Japanese government in 1996, for its unique thermal reconditioning formula. In 1998, it was patented in the United States and since then, has developed the reputation of being the leading Japanese Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning system. In contrast, Yuko system was developed in Japan and patented in the United States in 1997. I find the Yuko system more effective on coarse, defiant hair.
